Google posted three Workspace updates on October 19, so Gemini meeting recaps with decisions and action items now post to the meeting's Google Chat space, apps built in the Gemini app can be exported to Google Sites, and Gemini in Google Sheets is rolling out on iOS. Plus Tuesday's mortgage rates and the October reading on homebuilder confidence.

AI Tools Today: Meet recaps land in Google Chat, Gemini apps publish to Google Sites, and Gemini in Sheets comes to iPhone

Google published three Workspace updates on October 19, and each one puts Gemini’s work somewhere a real estate team already looks, from the Chat space after a Meet call to a shareable Google Site to the spreadsheet on your phone. We close with Tuesday’s mortgage rates from Zillow data and the National Association of Home Builders’ October reading on builder confidence, which fell to its lowest level since 2012.

Google Chat now posts a recap after each Meet call

When a Google Meet call has Gemini’s “Take notes for me” feature turned on, Google Chat now posts a recap card in the Chat space linked to that meeting once the call ends. The card carries a summary of the main topics, the key decisions, the action items with the person each one is assigned to, and links to the Gemini notes document, the recording and the transcript. It arrives quietly with no unread badge, any participant can delete the card, and no recap posts when the host has set the notes to go only to hosts and co-hosts. It is on by default for organizations with Gemini turned on, and it began rolling out on October 16 for Rapid Release domains and starts on October 27 for Scheduled Release domains, which are the two update tracks a Workspace admin chooses between, with each rollout taking up to 15 days to reach everyone. (Google Workspace Updates, Google Chat Help)

Price: Google lists meeting recaps for Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus and Frontline Plus, and the per user rate for each plan is on Google’s pricing page (Google Workspace Updates, Google Workspace pricing)

For your office: turn on “Take notes for me” for your weekly listing meeting or your owner calls, and have whoever runs the meeting check the action items in the Chat recap against what was agreed before the team starts working from them.

Apps you build in the Gemini app can now go live as a Google Site

Google now lets you export an interactive app built in the Gemini app, meaning a small working tool that Gemini builds from a description you type, straight into Google Sites. The app lands in a new private site draft where it keeps working, and you can customize the site around it, then publish and share it like any other Google Site. It is available now on the web, Android and iOS for Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers and personal Google accounts with access to the Gemini app, and it works for anyone whose organization lets them create and edit Google Sites. To use it, open the app in Gemini and choose Export, then Google Sites. (Google Workspace Updates)

Price: price not published for the export itself, and the Gemini app has a free plan at $0 per month with a Google Account, with Google AI Plus at $4.99 per month, Google AI Pro at $19.99 per month and Google AI Ultra starting at $99.99 per month (Google AI plans)

For your office: ask Gemini to build a simple mortgage payment or cap rate calculator for one of your markets, check every formula yourself, and then export it to a Google Site you can link from a listing email or your agent bio page.

Gemini in Google Sheets is rolling out on iPhone and iPad

Gemini in Google Sheets is now rolling out on iOS, the system that runs iPhones and iPads, so you can open a spreadsheet on your phone, tap the Ask Gemini icon, ask questions about the data, get a read on what stands out and build charts. It comes with suggested prompts such as “Summarize this table” and “Analyze for insights,” and it follows the web version and the Android release from August. The rollout began on October 15 for both Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains and can take up to 15 days to reach everyone, and it is on by default for eligible users with no separate admin switch beyond the general Gemini settings. (Google Workspace Updates, Google Docs Editors Help)

Price: Google lists Gemini in Sheets on iOS for Workspace Business Starter, Standard and Plus and Enterprise Starter, Standard and Plus, with the per user rate for each plan on Google’s pricing page, and for personal accounts on Google AI Plus at $4.99 per month, Google AI Pro at $19.99 per month and Google AI Ultra starting at $99.99 per month (Google Workspace pricing, Google AI plans)

For your office: before a showing or an owner call, open your pipeline or rent roll sheet on your phone and ask Gemini to summarize the table, then confirm any number it gives you against the sheet itself before you repeat it to a client.

In the industry

The National Association of Home Builders reported on October 19 that its Housing Market Index of builder confidence fell 3 points to 29 in October, the lowest reading since June 2012, with 43% of builders cutting prices, the highest share of any month from 2020 through 2026, at an average cut of 6%, and 65% of builders using sales incentives. NAHB tied the drop to mortgage rates climbing well above 7%, elevated construction costs and weaker consumer confidence, which gives buyers and investors looking at new construction room to ask builders about price cuts and incentives right now. (NAHB)

Zillow rate data published by NerdWallet on the morning of October 20 put the average 30-year fixed mortgage at 7.23% APR, up 3 basis points from Monday and 7 basis points below where it stood a week ago, and a basis point is one hundredth of a percentage point. That is the number to use when you rerun payment estimates for buyers this week. (NerdWallet)
