AI Tools Today: Gemini 4 Argon reaches the Gemini app, Gemini learns skills, and OpenAI sets a retirement date for GPT-4o

Google put Gemini 4 Argon in the Gemini app for AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, started rolling out skills and a Customize menu in Gemini, and added one tap follow up routines to Google Meet. OpenAI set January 14, 2027 as the date GPT-4o and GPT-4.1 leave its API. Plus September existing home sales and this morning's mortgage rates.

AI Tools Today: Gemini 4 Argon reaches the Gemini app, Gemini learns skills, and OpenAI sets a retirement date for GPT-4o

Google had the busiest two days of any vendor we follow, so three of today’s four items come from Gemini and Google Meet, and the fourth is a retirement date from OpenAI that matters to any office running a custom tool on GPT-4o. We close with the September existing home sales report from NAR and this morning’s mortgage rates.

Gemini 4 Argon is now in the Gemini app for AI Pro and Ultra subscribers

Google made Gemini 4 Argon, the model it announced on September 30, available in the Gemini app on October 13 for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, and the same plans get it in AI Mode in Google Search. Google says the model gives more direct answers and posts progress updates more often on long jobs, and its own examples include analyzing a complex financial report and building a deck from scattered sources. A new toggle switches Gemini from chat to tasks so it can keep working across Google apps while you are away from your computer, and Mac users can now start Google Antigravity, Google’s coding agent, from inside the Gemini app. (Google, Google release notes)

Developers on the paid Gemini API tier can use it today, and Google lists an introductory rate of $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens (tokens are the small chunks of text a model reads and writes) through November 30, 2026, followed by $4 and $20. (Google)

Price: Google AI Pro is $19.99 per month and Google AI Ultra starts at $99.99 per month (Google AI plans)

For your office: give Argon the quarterly financials for one property you own or manage, switch the chat to a task, and ask it for a written summary and a short deck you can bring to your next owner or investor meeting.

Gemini adds skills and a Customize menu

Google began rolling out skills in the Gemini app on October 13, and a skill is a saved set of instructions that Gemini follows each time you use it, such as writing in your style or applying your formatting rules. Skills sit in a new Customize menu in the left sidebar, where you can also adjust how Gemini responds and connect more than 40 apps and services, with most of those connections available in English in the U.S. Google expects the rollout to finish by mid-November and says sharing skills with others and a Google Drive connection are coming in the following weeks, while the separate version of skills for Google Workspace business accounts is delayed until further notice. (Google Workspace Updates, Google release notes)

Price: Google’s release notes list Customize for all Gemini user tiers (Google release notes)

For your office: write one skill that holds your listing description rules, including your brokerage name, the length you want and the words you keep out for fair housing reasons, so every description you draft in Gemini comes out in your house style, and pass it to your agents once Google turns on sharing.

Google Meet can draft your follow up email when the call ends

Google announced on October 12 a new section called Routines for this meeting on the screen you see after a Meet call, where one tap turns on a next step for that meeting or for all of your meetings. The two next steps at launch draft a follow up email in Gmail and send the action items to Google Tasks, and Google says more are on the way. Take notes for me, which is Meet’s AI note taker, has to be on during the meeting for the next steps to appear, and the rollout began October 5 and may take more than 15 days to reach every account. (Google Workspace Updates)

Price: included with Google Workspace Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard and Enterprise Plus, with per user rates on Google’s pricing page (Google Workspace pricing)

For your office: turn on the follow up email routine for all of your meetings, so every owner call, tenant call and buyer consultation you hold on Meet ends with a draft recap waiting in Gmail for you to review and send.

OpenAI will retire GPT-4o and GPT-4.1 from its API on January 14, 2027

OpenAI posted a notice on October 14 that GPT-4o, GPT-4o mini, GPT-4.1 and GPT-4.1 mini will shut down in its API on January 14, 2027, and it recommends GPT-6 Luna as the replacement for all four. The API is the connection that custom chatbots, website assistants and automations use to reach OpenAI’s models, so this notice is about tools a developer built on OpenAI for your office. Fine tuned versions of these models, which are copies trained on a company’s own examples, shut down on the same date as the model they came from. (OpenAI)

Price: GPT-6 Luna is $0.10 per million input tokens and $0.50 per million output tokens (OpenAI)

For your office: ask whoever built your website chat, lead intake bot or other automations which OpenAI model each one calls, and schedule the move to GPT-6 Luna early enough that you have a few weeks to test its answers before January 14.

In the industry

NAR reported on October 13 that existing home sales rose 1.5% in September to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 3.99 million, which is 2.2% below a year earlier, and the median price reached $417,500, up 1.3% from September 2025. Inventory came to 1.60 million homes, or 4.8 months of supply, the typical home spent 33 days on the market, and NAR chief economist Lawrence Yun said “Higher inventory and lengthening days on market give buyers improved negotiating power.” (NAR via GlobeNewswire)

Zillow lender marketplace data reported by Yahoo Finance on the morning of October 14 put the 30-year fixed rate at 7.28% and the 15-year fixed rate at 6.64%, which are the numbers to have in hand when a buyer asks what a payment looks like this week. (Yahoo Finance)
